We welcomed 75 attendees to our 2016 Conference in London last Saturday. The fullest we have been. To date…
And this despite there being a separate Boarding School Survivors course for women in London. And another survivors event elsewhere in England.
Professor Joy Schaverien was our keynote speaker, addressing the topic of: The Creation of Boarding School Syndrome: Girls and Boys; How does the trauma differ? See this flyer for more details.

We are taking bookings for our 2016 Conference in London on Saturday, 8 October 2016.
Our keynote speaker is Prof Joy Schaverien, author of Boarding School Syndrome: The Psychological Trauma of the ‘Privileged’ Child.
Joy will give a talk on: “The Creation of Boarding School Syndrome: Girls and Boys, how does the trauma differ?”
“In this talk the ABC of Boarding School Syndrome will be identified: it begins with Abandonment, Bereavement and Captivity. This is the same for girls and for boys.
However, major gender differences in treatment in the single sex boarding schools, of the not too distant past, will be discussed with reference to beatings, table manners and sleeping arrangements. It is hoped to generate lively discussion as the day progresses.”
For full details of the day, see our Conference Flyer.
